Why Should You Become a Member of the Academy?

The Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) is a global organization made up of, governed by, and created for the Human Resource Development academic and scholarly community. As a member, you will receive:

Who is Eligible to be a Member?

HRD professionals interested in advancing the academy’s vision of Leading Human Resource Development through Research can choose from the Individual Memberships described below:

Regular

Regular memberships are available to any individual scholar or practitioner who supports The Academy’s mission ($225 annually). Members receive discounted registration rates for the annual AHRD International Research Conference in The Americas.

Student

Student members must be enrolled full-time in HRD educational programs at institutes of higher education. Student members must be a Graduate Assistant or equivalent, and provide details of financial hardship. Student members receive discounted registration rates for the AHRD International Research Conference in the Americas. $125 annually.

Student applications must include:

Letter from a department head, dean, administrator, graduate chair or equivlaent with:
1) confirmation of full-time enrollment,
2) description of full-time status
3) expected date of graduation

Letter from student applicant with:
1) confirmation of graduate assistant or equivalent position with work detais including hours
OR 2) claim of financial hardship and information to support that status
AND 3) previous number of years as a student member or AHRD, if any.

International/Trial (first year only)

International Trial memberships are available to individuals who reside outside of the U.S. and wish to join AHRD for the first time. They receive a discounted rate of $80 for the first year. Renewal will be at the regular member rate ($225 annually).

Program Excellence Network (PEN) Membership

PEN membership is institutional—meaning your HRD academic program joins. PEN is open to all graduate programs worldwide that provide instruction, research, service and leadership in HRD. The annual membership fee is $150 annually.

Each program will designate a PEN delegate. This delegate should be the chair/coordinator of the HRD academic program at the member institution (or their designated representative). Delegates must be full-time faculty members actively engaged in HRD at their home institution and must be a current AHRD member. Delegates will represent their HRD academic program at the annual meeting as well as be the primary contact for all PEN-related communications and business.

SIG Membership

SIG members may enroll in up to two SIGs, with access to that SIG website and all SIG benefits. SIG members will receive the AHRD e-Digest, but do not have access to the members-only areas of the AHRD website, AHRD journals or have voting rights. $50 annually.
