Required: Earned Ph.D. in Human Resource Development or related field. Strong record of teaching and student advising. Evidence of effective teaching skills. Evidence of a commitment to multicultural education through teaching or service/outreach.

Preferred: Employment or consulting experience in human resource management and/or human resource development. Evidence of technology literacy. Experience in adult education or strong connections with the adult education field.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teaching three courses per semester and summer with emphasis in Human Resource Development (HRD) related topics of training and development, organization development, and HRD evaluation. Advising students in HRD and ADED and serving on committees of students in other programs in the Department and College. Supervising masters research. Contributing to the development of undergraduate tracks that would lead to OLPD's masters degree programs in Comparative and International Development Education and Higher Education, as well as HRD and ADED.

Position: The department chair holds a 12-month appointment. The appointment will begin fall 2010.

Rank/Salary: Administrative Faculty. Tenured Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background.

Summary: The department chair provides leadership for the department's efforts to enhance learning and performance through innovative research, teaching, and service in the three constructs of: learning technology, performance technology, and computing technology. The department chair is an administrative position. The department chair manages general administrative duties of the department; works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students regarding strategic planning, academic planning, and general management; represents the department effectively both internally and externally; mentors and supports faculty in their professional development efforts; supports efforts to secure external funding; and directs the effective and efficient management of fiscal and human resources to achieve the University of North Texas vision of national recognition for excellence.

The Department of Learning Technologies consists of tenure/tenure-track faculty, full-time staff, and part-time project staff. The department offers courses in computer education and cognitive systems, educational computing, career and technical education (applied technology), performance improvement, and training and development with degrees available at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level.

Academic and Professional Qualifications: Rank of full professor with an academic record that meets requirements for appointment at the rank of professor at UNT, including a record of scholarship that includes research published in national, refereed journals; teaching and service experience as a university faculty member; demonstrated work in developing proposals for external funding; and previous academic administrative or leadership experience in the academic community. An earned doctorate from an accredited university in one of the departmental disciplines or a discipline that closely aligns with those disciplines.

Experience as a faculty member or administrator in a doctorate-granting university who can provide a demonstrated record of academic management, academic planning, strategic planning, problem solving, and resource allocation. Experience leading a highly productive department faculty.
