Why Should You Become a Member of the Academy?
The Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) is a global organization made up of, governed by, and created for the Human Resource Development academic and scholarly community. Click here to view a slide show presenting member benefits.
Human Resource Development as a subject area brings together a diverse community of people interested in training, workplace learning, adult education, organizational learning and performance, OD, career development, and other people development growth topics. AHRD is a family of academics, practitioners and students who share the same passion for Human Resource Development, and for improving it through research.
Formed in 1993, AHRD encourages the systematic study of HRD theories, processes, and practices; disseminates information about HRD; encourages the application of HRD research findings; and provide opportunities for social interaction among individuals with scholarly and professional interests in HRD from multiple disciplines and from across the globe. AHRD has 700+ members from 39 countries. All find something very special about AHRD – it is a professional home, a network, a place to learn and share, a place to publish and present, and a place to meet others who share their passion for HRD.

Who is Eligible to be a Member?
HRD professionals interested in advancing the academy’s vision of Leading Human Resource Development through Research can choose from the Individual Memberships described below. Please note that AHRD accepts Visa and MasterCard only for online payments.
Student Membership
Student members must be enrolled full-time in HRD educational programs at institutes of higher education. Student members must be a Graduate Assistant or equivalent, and provide details of financial hardship. Student members receive discounted registration rates for the AHRD International Research Conference in the Americas. $125 annually.
Student applications must include:
Letter from a department head, dean, administrator, graduate chair or equivlaent with:
1) confirmation of full-time enrollment,
2) description of full-time status
3) expected date of graduation
Letter from student applicant with:
1) confirmation of graduate assistant or equivalent position with work detais including hours
OR 2) claim of financial hardship and information to support that status
AND 3) previous number of years as a student member or AHRD, if any.
